Background
The European project EUROFLEETS2 "New operational steps towards an alliance of European research fleets" was launched on the first of March 2013, bringing together a consortium of 31 partners from 20 European countries, whose main objective is to develop a new pan-European distributed infrastructure with common strategic vision and coordinated access to Research Vessels (RVs) and marine equipment.
A central aim of EUROFLEETS2 is to provide access to RVs for all European scientists and their industrial and international partners on the sole condition of scientific excellence covering all fields of marine science from environmental and biodiversity protection, to coastal zone management, geodynamics and climate change research. To pursue this aim, fully funded ship time on various European research vessels and European marine equipment will be available between 2014 and 2017 to support outstanding research projects.
EUROFLEETS2 accessible Research Vessels: The EUROFLEETS2 project makes available ship time on 8 Global/Ocean RVs and 14 Regional RVs. A detailed description of the research vessels participating in the EUROFLEETS2 project, their technical capabilities, available scientific instrumentation and equipment, completed by a brief description of the obtainable ship time and area of operation can be found at www.eurofleets.eu. This information should be used as a basis for the selection of the most suitable platform for your scientific project.
EUROFLEETS2 accessible embarked equipment: The EUROFLEETS2 project makes available for European and international users scientific marine equipment to be deployed from RVs such as 2 ROVs, and equipment to be deployed from underwater vehicles such as innovative ED HDTV cameras developed within the EUROFLEETS project. A detailed description of the marine equipment participating in the EUROFLEETS2 project, their technical capabilities and obtainable user time can be found at www.eurofleets.eu. This information should be used as a basis for the selection of the most suitable equipment for your scientific project.
